Father and Son

An old man lived alone in a village. He wanted to spade his potato garden, but it was very hard-work. His only son, who would have helped him, was in prison.

The old man wrote a letter to his son and mentioned his situation :

Dear Son,

I am feeling pretty bad because it looks like I won't be able to plant my potato garden this year. I hate to miss doing the garden, because ur mother always loved planting time. I'm just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. If you were here, all my troubles would be over. I know you would dig the plot for me, if you weren't in prison.

Love,
Dad

Shortly, the old man received this telegram :

"For Heaven's sake, Dad, don't dig up the garden !! That's where I buried the GUNS !!"

At 4 a.m. the next morning, a dozen FBI agents and local police officers showed up and dug up the entire garden without finding any guns.

Confused, the old man wrote another note to his son telling him what happened, and asked him what to do next.

His son's reply was :

"Go ahead and plant your potatoes, Dad... It's the best I could do for you from here."

No matter where you are in the world, if you have decided to do something deep from your heart you can do it. It is the thought that matters not where you are or where the person is.

Apology

There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold temper than to drive those nails into the fence.

Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail to each day that he was able to hold his temper.

The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, "You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same.

When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won't matter how many times you say I'm sorry, the wound is still there. "A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one.

Father and Daughter

"Right at the birth, the bond between father and daughter happens instantly,
When he first laid his eyes on me,  his love for me was more than anything on this earth,
(Mom told me this, and continued saying ...)
When a daughter grows older her father is the first man she will love,
And the last one her father will have trouble letting go of,
In her eyes he is the closest thing to God, in her eyes he is a King,
To her father she means the world, she means everything.
When a daughter grows up to be an adult and mature,
Her father will always be there anytime she still needs dad to care for her or help her,
To give her advice or just-for anything she will ever need,
The bond between father and daughter is the most important bond indeed,
It cannot be broken when she finds a man, and become his wife,
It cannot be broken even in the ending of either ones life,
A daughter will always have the memories of her father, her best friend
This bond has a beginning, but there is never an end.
The bond between a father and daughter is so profound
The love shared is well renowned,
From the beginning of his daughters life, he is a changed man,
At that moment his life really just began.
From the moment their eyes meet,
two souls instantly become complete."

Happy Father's Day Dad. Miss U !!

Review : I've Got Your Number

I long waited for this book. I entered the Giveaway but didn't win. Then I searched in the library catalogue, but there were over 50 people waiting for this copy. I still ordered and waited for a month. So, finally got it n finished reading. I finished this book in 5 days, cuz this copy was under "Lightning Loans" and cannot be renewed. Anyways , ....

I can never stop laughing while reading Sophie Kinsella books. And I’ve Got Your Number didn’t disappoint.
At the beginning of the book, our protagonist, Poppy finds out she has lost her ring. Now she is looking for it…
Not only does she not find the ring, she manages to get her phone stolen, too. So in a moment of desperation grabs a phone she finds in a bin. It’s a company phone. It belonged to Sam’s PA…

I’m not sure law states that, but ok. She gives out her new number to all of her friends and pleads Sam to keep it for a while. He agrees and they start sharing a phone. She is nosy, so she reads and responds to some of his e-mails, but just to help him. Yeah, the road to hell is paved…

Anyway, we soon find out more about Poppy and her engagement. She doesn’t feel comfortable with her soon-to-be-in-laws, and her fiancée isn’t that helpful. Pretty soon she and Sam are texting on a regular basis and things start happening between them, between one disaster and another.

All in all, an awesome book, if you’re looking for something hilarious with a side dish of romance. Bon appétit!

Busy Life : My Haiku-2

I
try
to open
the mind's door
and peek through stagnant ideas
with all my might trying to activate them
letting them flow freely without a hiccup, without a full-stop, onto the blog
how the hustle-bustle of life had paid a toll on my writing, tying me up from keeping
updates, denying my passion
I am so trapped in the world of "busy-ness", with limited hours
grasping the moment though work grows into mountains
but for the fuel of life
precious rice bowl
vital need
sustaining
life

10 Beautiful Libraries Around The World

These are THE MOST BEAUTIFUL structures of the world. My favourite 10 libraries around the globe.

1. Library of Congress: Washington D.C

The Library of Congress is the research library of the United States Congress, de facto national library of the United States, and the oldest federal cultural institution in the United States (1800). Located in three buildings in Washington, D.C., it is the largest library in the world by shelf space and number of books (22.19 million).

2. Belarus National Library | Minsk

The National Library of Belarus, founded on 15 September 1922, is a copyright library of the Republic of Belarus. It houses the largest collection of Belarusian printed materials and the third largest collection of books in Russian behind the Russian State Library (Moscow) and the Russian National Library (St Petersburg).

It is now located in a new 72-metre (236 feet) high building in Minsk, Belarus. The building has 22 floors and was completed in January 2006. The building can seat about 2,000 readers and features a 500-seat conference hall. Its main architectural component has the shape of a rhombicuboctahedron. The library’s new building was designed by architects Mihail Vinogradov and Viktor Kramarenko.

3. Abbey Library of St. Gall | Switzerland

The Abbey Library of Saint Gall was founded by Saint Othmar, the founder of the Abbey of St. Gall. The library collection is the oldest in Switzerland, and is one of earliest and most important monastic libraries in the world. It holds 2,100 manuscripts dating back to the 8th through the 15th centuries, 1,650 incunabula (printed before 1500), and old printed books. The library holds almost 160,000 volumes. The manuscript B of the Nibelungenlied is kept here.

4. Geisel Library, University of California, San Diego

The Geisel Library is the main library building on the University of California, San Diego campus and contains four of the six libraries located on campus. It is home to the Arts Library, the Mandeville Special Collections Library (SPEC), the Science & Engineering Library, and the Social Sciences & Humanities Library.

The building is named in honor of Audrey and Theodor Seuss Geisel (better known as Dr. Seuss) for the generous contributions they have made to the library and their devotion to improving literacy. The Geisels were long-time residents of La Jolla, where UC San Diego is located.

5. TU Delft Library | South Holland, Netherlands

The TU Delft Library, constructed in 1997, was designed by Delft-based Mecanoo architecture bureau. It is located behind university aula. The roof of the library is covered with grass, which serves as a natural insulation. The structure lifts from the ground on one side allowing to walk to the top of the building. The library is topped by the steel cone, giving its unique shape. The wall, opposite to the Aula is completely filled with glass. The library has won the Dutch National Steel Price in 1998 in the category buildings of steel and hybrid constructions.

6.  Stockholm Public Library | Sweden

Stockholm Public Library is a rotunda library building in Stockholm, Sweden, designed by Swedish architect Gunnar Asplund. The library was prepared from 1918 and onwards by a committee in which Asplund himself took part. Construction began in 1924, and the library was completed in 1928. It is one of the most notable buildings in Stockholm and one of Asplund’s most important works. In fact it was Sweden’s first public library to apply the principle of open shelves.

7.  Bibliotheca Alexandrina | Alexandria, Egypt

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina or Maktabat al-Iskandariyah is a major library and cultural center located on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea in the Egyptian city of Alexandria. It is both a commemoration of the Library of Alexandria that was lost in antiquity, and an attempt to rekindle something of the brilliance that this earlier center of study and erudition represented.

8. British Museum Reading Room | London, England

The British Museum Reading Room, situated in the centre of the Great Court of the British Museum, used to be the main reading room of the British Library. In 1997, this function moved to the new British Library building at St Pancras, London, but the Reading Room remains in its original form inside the new British Museum.

9.   Seattle Public Library | Washington, USA

The Seattle Public Library’s Central Library is the flagship library of The Seattle Public Library system. The 11-story (185 feet or 56 meters high) glass and steel building in downtown Seattle, Washington was opened to the public on Sunday, May 23, 2004. Rem Koolhaas and Joshua Prince-Ramus of OMA/LMN were the principal architects and Hoffman Construction Company of Portland, Oregon, was the general contractor. The 362,987 square foot (34,000 m²) public library can hold about 1.45 million books and other materials, features underground public parking for 143 vehicles, and includes over 400 computers open to the public. Over 2 million individuals visited the new library in its first year.

10. Vancouver Public Library | British Columbia, Canada

My Friday Poem: Power of My Words

The power of words,
That makes me laugh and smile,
Fulfilling my days.

The power of words,
That gives hope and promises,
Excitement growing.

The power of words,
That makes me sad and solemn,
Everything's so bleak.

The power of words,
That pierce through my heart sharply,
Pain to my whole being.

The power of words,
Mixed feelings and emotions,
Lesson to my life.
